Cancer is the third leading cause of deaths in the Philippines. But unlike heart attacks and strokes, cancer is rapidly increasing in number.

Many patients with cancer are in the advanced stages. They and their families have exhausted all the treatment options currently available to them in the country. Aware of this, they look for other forms of treatment that may help. Some turn to unproven, unsafe and unscientific methods out of desperation.

The reality is that there are new and innovative treatment options against cancer based on sound scientific researches that are becoming available all the time in many countries. Unfortunately, patients typically have to wait years before these options become available in the Philippines. And when it comes to cancer, time isn’t a luxury patients have. It is thus common for patients to travel to another country to get treatment. Indeed, many Filipinos have traveled overseas for all sorts of treatment, including cancer.

That is why we formed Tullamarine, Inc. We are a group of concerned doctors and business people whose aim is to help bring scientifically proven and innovative technologies against cancer to Filipino patients as quickly as possible. So instead of waiting years just to get a new form of treatment, patients will receive it immediately and without leaving the country. Or in cases where a treatment cannot be brought to the Philippines sooner, we will gladly assist patients so they could avail of that in another country.

Tullamarine currently provides two services: Gene Therapy and Genetic Test.

Gene Therapy

At present, we use Gendicine as our gene therapy medicine. It is the first gene therapy product for cancer in the world. Tests and actual use have shown that it works effectively against cancer in more than 70% of cases.

This product has gone through a rigorous series of tests and research over the past few decades. These include laboratory, animal and human phases I, II and III trials that were done in various countries, including the U.S., Europe and China. Today, the final product is manufactured in China where it was given full license by the country’s Food and Drug Administration in 2003.

Filipinos who would like to receive our Gene Therapy treatment still need to obtain a Compassionate Special Permit from the Food and Drug Administration of the Philippines. Since February 2011, patients with advanced cancers in the Philippines have obtained such permits with the aid of the Cancer Treatment and Support Foundation, Inc.

Modecs Genetics, Inc. (Canada) is the official distributor of Gendicine, as approved by Shenzhen Sibiono Gene-Tech Co. Ltd. of China. Its CEO is Filipino-Canadian Dr. Diosdado Bautista. More than a CEO, he is actively involved in making Gendicine available in the Philippines. It is his company that gave Tullamarine the exclusive distribution rights of Gendicine in the Philippines.

Genetic Test

At Tullamarine, we collect specimen DNAs for deCODE genetic test. This test is done by analyzing the DNA of our clients. This helps people detect their pre-disposition to certain diseases. Doing so enables individuals to take preventive measures against these diseases and receive individualized medical care based on their needs.

In addition to Gene Therapy and Genetic Test, we aim to provide more services to more Filipinos in the future. Thus, we continue to search for new technologies that will help improve the quality of life of Filipinos. Because life is precious.
