According to new research, cancer accounts for 40% of people who die early deaths, a figure higher than any major disease such as AIDS and stroke.

The study conducted by the Cancer Research UK found that 76,000 people aged 25-74 die prematurely because of cancer each year. This accounts for 40% of the premature deaths in the country, compared to 15% from heart diseases and 9% from respiratory diseases. The figure is also higher than other illnesses such as AIDS, and other causes of early deaths such as murders, suicides and road accidents.
